This scholarship has been awarded to Ms. Sogheetha Matti, a remarkable individual whose dedication to nutrition and community service exemplifies the very essence of this award.
Ms. Sogheetha Matti, a 27-year-old from Ankawa, is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Human Nutrition at the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom. Her journey is one marked by a commitment to improving health and nutrition, inspired by her upbringing and experiences. Raised by a former Iraqi volleyball player, Sogheetha learned early on about the importance of healthy living and its impact on overall well-being. This foundation led her to integrate her passion for nutrition with her work in raising awareness about climate change.
The scholarship, provided through the collaborative efforts of the Etuti Institute, Nineveh Rising, and the University of Michigan’s Chaldean American Student Assosication (CASA), is designed to support students like Sogheetha who are dedicated to making a difference in their communities. This financial support will alleviate the burden of tuition and living expenses, allowing Sogheetha to fully concentrate on her studies and research.
In her response to receiving the Nabu Scholarship, Sogheetha expressed her gratitude: “Driven by the need for established nutritionists in Iraq, I embarked on postgraduate studies. The Nabu scholarship is an opportunity to alleviate financial constraints and allow me to fully dedicate myself to my studies. With your support, I aim to become a trusted source of nutritional knowledge for my community, addressing the rising health challenges. To the donors, your generosity is shaping a success story, and I am grateful for the opportunity to make a lasting impact.”
Sogheetha’s story is a powerful example of how education and dedication can create meaningful change. Her ambition to become a leading nutrition expert is not just a personal goal but a vital contribution to addressing health issues in her homeland. By combining her academic pursuits with her passion for community service, Sogheetha is paving the way for a healthier future for many.
We are incredibly proud of Ms. Sogheetha Matti, a strong and compassionate woman whose bright ambitions and dedication inspire us all. Her journey is a testament to the impact that scholarships like the Nabu Educational Awards can have on individuals and communities.
Additionally, we extend our sincere thanks to the University of Michigan’s CASA for their annual “Live From Babylon” 2023 fundraising event. This event played a crucial role in making scholarships like the one awarded to Sogheetha possible. Through their support, we can continue to enable and empower students in their pursuit of higher education and community service.
